JAMES HENRY ATUTAHI
James Atutahi is a contemporary Maori artist who has been working as a carving artist since 2004. All of Atutahi’s works are hand carved and each has that personal touch.
Atutahi is based in Mount Maunganui and works from his studio (garage) and stocks many galleries throughout New Zealand.
His works are inspired by Maori art and surf icons and are an ethnic mixture of both. The works also enhance Atutahi’s strong affinity with the ocean and symbology from the past.
Atutahi’s preferred media is custom wood as it is extremely versatile and ideal for the effect and design he prefers.
