LESLEY 'JACKA' ROBERTSON
Lesley was born in the west coast North Island city of New Plymouth, New Zealand. She moved to the Nelson area where she was educated and developed an interest in plants and working in clay.
Lesley trained as a potter at Waimea Craft Pottery at Richmond in 1974, later producing and selling works in her own studio in Queensland, Australia. After extensive travelling all over the world she set up two studios with artist partner Darryl Robertson. In 1986 they set up Bronte Gallery and studio's which was purpose designed and built as artist studios with adjoining gallery. Since that time she has created many forms of artwork that range from jewellery, pottery, ceramic art drawing and painting. "We have a very special location here on the historic Bronte Peninsular which is overlooking the beautiful Waimea inlet, it is an inspiring place to live and work as an artist", she says. Today Lesley divides her working time between managing Bronte Gallery and making special limited ceramic artwork. However more and more of her artistic time is spent drawing and painting in water colour. The majority of her work is commissioned or sold directly through Bronte Gallery to clients in New Zealand and internationally. These works are now collected and enjoyed all over New Zealand and around the world. SUNDAY BAY
